Tour of Youngstown Ohio, More on Arizona Immigration law

382.) President Obama went to Youngstown Ohio the other day, while there he toured a pipe factory that had recieved a over 19 million dollars in stimulus money. He toured the plant and afterwards he gave a speech to the factory workers. He had to pound his chest and brag to those dimwited Republicans and that idiotic majority of American’s who dare to question or doubt the Stimulus Bill would work. In his speech he said, “despite all the naysayers in Washington, who are always looking for a cloud in every silver lining, the fact is our economy is growing again.” I guess he was citing that the area of Youngstown has seen 4 months of economic growth. Well that sounds really good, I am glad to be proven wrong. I mean the plant will create something like 400 new jobs. I am glad to see Ohio is finally back on track. What is odd though is that President Obama said back in febuary that the stimulus bill would create over 133,000 new jobs in Ohio, sense then Ohio has lost 200,000 jobs. To put that in perspective Youngstown has a population under 100,000 people. So yes its good for Youngstown to have a couple new jobs pop up, but the fact is that those 400 jobs do not even begin to put a dent into the job loss in Ohio.  The stimulus bill now has to create 333,000 new jobs in Ohio for President Obama to be prooven right.

383.) While in Youngstown Ohio President Obama gave a speech at a steal tubing plant that recived stimulus money. In this speech President Obama said, “If the just say no crowd had won out, if we had done things the way they wanted to go, we’d be in a deeper world of hurt than we are right now.” Really? a deeper world of hurt, he seems so certian of that. What makes him think that? Clearly the historical record must be fueling his thought process. Herbert Hoover didn’t do anything and look at how bad the great depression turned out… Oh wait Hoover was not a hands off President as the history books and progressives have tried to potray him. Hoover promoted government works projects, like HOOVER dam, he also expressed a desire for fair trade and raised taxes on imported goods. When planning the New Deal FDR took Hoovers policies and dumped more money into them. Hoover and FDR both made the depression of 1929 into the Great Depression. Where as in the early 20’s Calvin Coolidge was faced by a equally bad depession, so what did he do? Rather than increase government spending and raise taxes, Coolidge cut spending and cut taxes a crossed the board. According to President Obama what this would result in was the worst economic depression in the history of the country… oh wait thats odd, I am pretty sure it resulted in the roaring 20’s an era where the United States had the lowest unemployment outside of War Time in its history.  I would like to point out that during the depression of the early 20’s Herbert Hoover (who was a member of the Coolidge Administration) spoke out that the President needed to do more to help those affected. So President Obama your claim has been brought to the anvil of history, and pounded with the hammer of fact, and it did not survive. Government is not the answer, it is the problem, quit trying to give us a jeopardy answer.

384.) While in Youngstown President Obama called for free and fair trade. Fair trade is the worst economic idea in the long sad history of bad progressive ideas.  Another name for fair trade is protectionism. Herbert Hoover attempted this at the onset of the great depression. He raised the tarrif in an attempt to protect American made goods from forgien competition. What happened then was that those nations who had their taxes raised by America then raised tarrifs against American made goods, so then American goods had nowhere to go for new markets. This resulted in lower profits, which results in higher prices and fewer workers. It is a bad idea. If you want to make America prosperous you have to make it place were doing business is easier and more cost effective, you do that by cutting taxes not by raising tarrifs.

385.) During that same speech President Obama issued a challenge. He said if anyone thinks we should not have invested stimulus money in the factory we should go to youngstown ohio and say that. It looks like I am going to youngstown. The government is not given the power under the constitution to invest in private companies. The consitution is a ridged document that binds the government into a cell. They are to opperate within the confines of law. I feel bad if anyone lost their job, but it is not the responsibility of the government to run out and pay for one. The government does not have any money, they do not produce anything… well I guess they produce GM cars… no wait those don’t make money either, they are stealing from the American people and our children. Tax cuts are good, tax credits are okay, government bailouts are horrible. Look at europe, that is the model that President Obama wants us to fallow, Greece is our future if we continue down this road. So yes I do not think, I know that HE should not have invested OUR money in that factory.

386.) President Obama and Eric Holder have spoken out continually about the Arizona Law that makes it a crime to be a criminal immigrant in Arizona.  Recently though something has been brought to my attention. Below is a section of a law dealing with immigration.   I will tell you where
(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.
Clearly this must be the Arizona law. I mean no one else would have such a racist law.  Actually though, this is section 834b of the California Penal Code that deals with immigration law at a local level. Why has their been no outrage over this from the President? Could it be because California is a largely democrat state and he is affraid of upsetting his base? Could it be traditional unchanged corrupt Washington Politics at work? I would have to say yes.
