594.) The American Job’s Act

To begin, I would like all my readers to take a moment, put politics aside, and give up a personal prayer for the continued saftey of those who live in areas where 10 years ago acts of pure evil were carried out against our nation. Areas that over a decade later now stand before the dark abyss of the unknown, the agents of choas once again have been sent forth to euserp the tranquility that has finally settled over the land. Once again the dark masters of death are plotting, their pawns are moving, to once again reign down destruction upon our people.  Pray for the saftey of your neighbors, your family, your fellow Americans. Pray for the saftey of those who live in Washington D.C., in New York City. And Pray for those who lost so much ten years ago on that sunny september day, whose clear blue skys were stained red and black by terrorist wanting only to bring death to Americans who wanted nothing more than to live a happy life.

President Obama gave a firery speach to a joint session of congress tonight September 8, 2011 calling for action on the part of congress to help create jobs in this nation. Jobs having of couse having been one of the most important, if not the most important issue to America sense President Obama has taken office.  An issue brought home to those in Washington when it was announced the country did not add any new jobs in August of 2011. So the importance of action cannot be understated. The question comes, what action should be taken.  One of the marks of any good leader is that when a crisis arises, a leader always has an answer. Let us now examine the President’s answer for this crises.

President Barack Obama revealed tonight what he called the American Job’s Act, a peice of legislation that fallows what President Obama has been calling for a while now, a “balanced Approach”. He puts out that the ideas in this plan have been supported by both sides before, and there for should be supported now. He put forth tax cuts, public spending, and tax increases.  He called for new spending to repair bridges, renovate schools, putting more teachers back in the class room, and extending unemployement benfits.  I see both good and bad in this bill. I can see the good intentions, but I can also see a poltical plot building.

On Taxes

President Obama proposed something that definatly jumps out at as a great opprotunity for compromise on by Republicans and Democrats.  He proposed cutting taxes, which is a proven way to stimulate the economy, letting Americans keep more of their money to spend on what they want. The President offered the fallowing
“Pass this jobs bill, and starting tomorrow, small businesses will get a tax cut if they hire new workers or raise workers’ wages. Pass this jobs bill, and all small business owners will also see their payroll taxes cut in half next year. If you have 50 employees making an average salary, that’s an $80,000 tax cut. And all businesses will be able to continue writing off the investments they make in 2012.” Cutting Payroll taxes is an idea that has merit, because it lets every American, so long as they work for a small business, keep more of their money. That is a good thing.
“companies will get a $4,000 tax credit if they hire anyone who has spent more than six months looking for a job”.  Cutting taxes again appears to be good.

President Obama said “We need a tax code where everyone gets a fair shake, and everybody pays their fair share.” This is his excuse to raise the taxes on the rich, those who create jobs in this country. But I have to thank the President because he is bringing up a very important issue that has long been kept quite.  It is time for a fairer tax system in this nation.  The top 1% of tax payers in this nation pay 39% of the taxes, 42% of Americans pay no federal income taxes. The tax code has become a twisted and corupt tool used by corrupt politicians, in an attempt to buy votes and artifically manipulate the market to the way that individual see’s fit. It is used as a system of punishment for political enemies and a system of reward for political allies. It is used to manipulate the population of this country. The point of the tax code was not to stimulate green jobs, or redistribute the wealth, its one and only purpose is to raise revenue for the government to carry out the duties that we the American People created the government to perform.  These tax cuts are a step in the right direction, but again they are used to punish/reward. Yes you are rewarding companies for hireing, but you are punishing companies who are not considered small business for being to big, why would they hirer hear in America?  Yes hiring people who have been unemployed for more than 6 months is good, but that is an incentive that can lead to people hiring to skip out on taxes rather than hiring qualified workers. I am not saying that they will do this, but it is a possibility. The markets are so screwed up because buracrats abusing the tax code to push markets away from marketability and profitablility in order to avoid being punished.  A fair tax code is infact needed, one that cuts taxes for everyone. But that is not going to happen, as the people in the government will lose their secret regulatory power.

“Washington. By eliminating pages of loopholes and deductions, we can lower one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. (Applause.) Our tax code should not give an advantage to companies that can afford the best-connected lobbyists. It should give an advantage to companies that invest and create jobs right here in the United States of America” This is true, but I hope President Obama realizes that he stands with Special interest groups, AKA the Unions.

On Spending

In this speech President Obama announced that his bill will repair and modernize 35,000 schools. It calls for Highspeed Rail, building/repairing new Bridges. Didn’t we already try this? I am pretty sure we “primed the pump” of the economy with the 1 trillion dollar porkulus bill.  While spending money to fix schools is nice, and bridges are important, the fact is our government is out of money, and if the stimulus bill is any example it pay of in the long run.

It must be said that President Obama is calling for cuts to fund this bill to keep it from adding to the debt. However he isn’t cutting spending somewhere else to fund this, he just plans on taking more of it.  “by reforming our tax code in a way that asks the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations to pay their fair share” Again the rich pay more taxes than anyone else. The top 24% of income earners pay 86% of the income tax in this country.  Yet that is not fair. So Good Idea but it highly depends on his  fallow through. thousands of teachers will be returned to the class room. He mentions how teachers are being added in countries in South Korea but we are laying them off in droves. Has the President stopped to wonder why is it that teachers are being laid off in droves. Is it becasue the money doesn’t exist to pay them, or is it because we have too many

On Jobs

Now With the spending to modernize schools President Barack Obama said that if the Jobs bill is passed teachers.  The Teacher’s Union has manipulated this country to the point where it is almost impossible to fire teachers. In Ohio there was a teacher who abused a mentally challenged child, he was moved from the class room to a warehouse and still kept his close to 80,000 dollar salary. There were teachers in New York City that just went and sat around a teachers lounge because they weren’t allowed to be around the kids, but the Union had ensured that they could not be fired. So yes we are laying off teachers, but does this really ” undermines their future and ours”?

“Pass this bill, and hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged young people will have the hope and the dignity of a summer job next year. And their parents — (applause) — their parents, low-income Americans who desperately want to work, will have more ladders out of poverty.” Thousands o fdisadvantage young people can have the dignity of having jobs, what about other teens and young people? Why is the government only trying to help some people. This is another example of the government trying to steer the economy, steer the way we think.  Yes they probably need the jobs, but the government should not be trying to manipulate the markets so that they hire poor people instead of middle class people.  It is another log added to the fire that is class warfare.

Interesting Note

The fallowing are things that I found interesting.

President Obama called for bringing business back to the United States. He wants manufacturing to return to our country so he can buy things marked made in the U.S.A. I agree, but why then is Jeffery Emelt given a seat next to the First Lady? President Obama is calling for more American manufacturing, and they let Jeffery Emelt, a man whose company has moved its aircraft and Med Tech manufacturing overseas sit next to the first lady.  IT is hard to take the man serious, when he pulls something like this.

President Obama said, “But know this: The next election is 14 months away. And the people who sent us here — the people who hired us to work for them — they don’t have the luxury of waiting 14 months”. They don’t have the luxary of waiting 14 months, what about the first three years you where in office?  Jobs was number one, yet you focused on cap and trade, health care, financial reform, buying GM for the Unions, everything but focusing on jobs.  Whats 14 more months. So far you haven’t seemed too keen on doing anything.

conclusion.

In the presentation of this jobs bill the President called for congress to pass it RIGHT NOW over 14 times, 14 times he called for congress to just go ahead and pass this bill. Well that is how you get legislation like the porkulus bill.  That is how you get bridges to nowhere, billions for Unions who aren’t creating jobs. That is how you get billions of dollars to solar companies that cannot begin to compete in the industry.  The process is meant to be slow, to prevent problems like these from happening. This push to just pass whatever the President gives to congress is nothing more than a political stunt. Something he can use to make Republicans look evil, and like he is the only one trying to create jobs.

There are things in this bill that I do like, and it is a decent starting point. However, that is what it is, a starting point, it is far from being exceptable.

  1. I got the impression Obama wants to make it look like he is trying to do something, so he can blame Congressional inaction for any lack of economic progress over those 14 months

  2. you suggest we put politics aside but you’re not for example:This push to just pass whatever the President gives to congress is nothing more than a political stunt. Is a purely partisan comment just like you pulled it right from FOX.  It’s also BS.  How is the president writing a jobs bill a political stunt?  You are so hard right wing biased it’s not even funny.it is far from being exceptable.as a matter of fact, it’s not only acceptable, it’s excellent.maybe you’d be taken more seriously if you spell check.
