621.) President Obama gave a speech on Monday December 5th, 2011 once again calling on congress to act to keep his pay roll tax cut. Well when I say calling on congress to act, what I mean to say is, Mr. Partisan Politics, is calling out Republicans demanding that they compromise (President Obama’s version of the word, do exactly as I say, or else you are evil) and extend the pay roll tax cut. He warned that 160 million Americans will see their taxes go up January 1st unless those evil Republicans agree to compromise with the kind hearted, loving, Democrats.
President Obama said, “I know many Republicans have sworn an oath never to raise taxes as long as they live.” he then said, “How can it be the only time there’s a catch is when it comes to raising taxes on middle-class families? How can you fight tooth and nail to protect high-end tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and yet barely lift a finger for taxes going up for 160 million Americans who really need the help? It doesn’t make sense.”
This sounds like great logic, this fits the progressive narrative exactly. That only they care for the poor, only they care for the unwashed masses. That Republicans hate everyone but the rich, and only want the rich to be happy. They want you the lowely peasants to exist in squaler for the rest of your meager existance, your only point in life to serve as food source for the dragon fanged serpants who own the world. There is only one problem, President Obama is spinning facts, and covering up the truth.
Once again, I will put this out there for you my readers, as obviously President Obama doesn’t understand this, compromise requires two sides to give something to one another. President Obama does not want compromise he wants blind folded cult like obedience. You see, it is not the evil Republicans who are not compromising, it is the arrogant Democrats in the congress. The conservatives in congress, most of which are Republicans have sworn not to raise taxes, this is true. This was part of the mandate that they were sent to Washington with, part of what the Tea Party wanted. So it would seem that President Obama is right in the fact that it seems odd that they are not willing to extend this payroll tax holiday, even though they fight tooth and nail for tax cuts for the producers. The problem here is that President Obama and the rest of the progressives in congress want to pay for this tax holiday by raising taxes on the producers. Republicans want to pay for the tax holiday by cutting spending, via reducing the blotted federal work force, as well as freezing federal salaries. Republicans have sworn never to raise taxes, so why would they accept the Democrat plan? If the Democrats wanted the payroll tax cut extended to help the middle class they could accept the Republican plan. But that won’t happen because this isn’t about helping the middle class this is about the goal of redistributing wealth, the Democrats refused to compromise on revenues in the debt commission, because they didn’t tax the producers enough, now they are going to undercut the payroll tax cut because once again they are not going to get their much sought after tax hike on the job creators in the nation.
So lets see, there were two offers put on the table, offer A and offer B. the meets step one of compromise.
Side A refuses Side B’s offer,
Side B refuses Side A’s offer,
So how is it that it is only one side who is not willing to compromise. Oh I know Because President Obama has kicked his campaign mode into high gear, and is trying every dirty handed trick he has in his ol’ bag of Chicago Political Tips. Do not believe him when he calls out Republicans, compromise is a two way street. Scold the democrats from time to time. I doubt we see that though, because the Democrats blindly follow him, and agree with him, which matches his idea of compromise, do as I say NOW.
622.) In that same speech President Obama said,”I just point out that they haven’t always felt that way. Over the last decade they didn’t feel the need to pay for massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, which is one of the reasons we face such large deficits. So forgive me a little bit of confusion when I hear folks insisting on tax cuts being paid for.” This is funny, the reason it is funny, is because President Obama does have a point, the sticking point over this issue is how to make it deficit neutral. However President Obama once again, is demonstrating his lack of understanding of the American Economic System. YOU DO NOT PAY FOR TAX CUTS! Taxes pay for spending. The government taxes us, to pay for its spending. A tax cut means that people pay the government less money, they get to keep more of their money in their pockets. Not getting dollar is not the same as spending a dollar. Taxes go to pay for spending. If your Dad was going to give 20 dollars, but for whatever reason he couldn’t give it to you, you did not just spend 20 dollars you just didn’t get 20 dollars. You are no poorer than you were before. However, you do need to adjust your spending habits to compensate for not getting that $20 dollars. Basically you can’t spend what you don’t have, unless of course you are the government. The payroll tax was put on the books to fund social security. So cutting the payroll tax reduces the amount of money going into Social Security, a fund which is on the verge of insolvency, so adjustments must be made to compensate for the reduced levels of income. That is not the same as spending, that is what is known as budgeting.
623.) President Obama said, “Over the last decade they didn’t feel the need to pay for massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, which is one of the reasons we face such large deficits” This is wrong, no matter how you look at it, this statment from the President is wrong. The reason we have deficits is because we SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY, cutting taxes is not spending money. The government levies taxes in order fund spending. Not taxing does not equal spending. A defict comes from spending more money than you bring in, the key word there is SPENDING, the reason we have such large deficits is because we spent too much money. The government has known for over ten years the amount of revenue it was going to have at the current tax rates, yet it continued to spend more money than it was bringing in. The reason we have large deficits is not because there were massive tax cuts over ten years ago. The reason we have large deficits is because the government refused to cut spending to match the revenues. President Obama and his progressives allies in Congress are responsible for the massive deficits that we are running, not the tax cuts made over a decade ago. They are the ones who knew what the governments revenues were, and passed a $1,000,000,000,000 spending bill, saying that future revenues would pay for it (that worked really well for Enron). They are the ones who passed countless extensions to welfare, knowing the government did not have the funds to pay for it. They are the ones who bought GM and Chrysler, saying that they would earn money back from the selling of the stocks, even though we lost money during the IPO. President Bush, was no champion of Fiscal Responsibility. Below are two sets of numbers, President A, and President B.
President A: under President A’s watch our national debt has risen on average $1,723,000,000,000(1.723 trillion dollars),
President B: under President B’s watch our national debt has risen on average $607,000,000,000 (607 billion) a year.
The difference between the two works out to be about $1,116,000,000,000 (1.116 trillion dollars) that President A spent compared to President B. So by looking the above stated data, lets see if we can figure out which President is President Bush and which President is President Obama.
President Bush cut taxes, so under Obamaian logic he clearly would be President A, because he didn’t take more money from the rich to pay for his spending, that means he would run massive deficits.
President Obama spent money, so under Obamaian logic he would clearly be President B, yes he spent more money than the government had in revenue, but he didn’t cut taxes for the evil rich people, so clearly his deficits could not be as large.
Before you guess, here is one final peice of information, this comes from a wallstreet journal artical , the numbers are from 2008. “The top 1% of taxpayers—those with salaries, dividends and capital gains roughly above about $380,000—paid 38% of taxes. But assume that tax policy confiscated all the taxable income of all the “millionaires and billionaires” Mr. Obama singled out. That yields merely about $938 billion, which is sand on the beach amid the $4 trillion White House budget, a $1.65 trillion deficit”. If you taxed every households making $114,000 at 100% would not close the budget gap.
Place your answer in your comments, I will post the answer probably in a week.
