Today, November 11th, 2013 is the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. This was the address given by President Lincoln after the bloody Battle of Gettysburg, the battle that saw the greatest carnage of any engagement in the civil war. President Lincoln said these words
The Gettysburg Address
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate—we cannot consecrate—we cannot hallow—this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom— and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
Gettysburg was the turning point in the Civil War, it was the beginning of the end for the confederacy, and would ultimately bring about the leverage that the abolitionist movement needed to end slavery in all of the United States. Something so vitally important is to me worthy of the utmost reverence and dedication. The last few lines “that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain-that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth” sets out the unending duty of all Americans living in this free republic. We have a sacred duty to defend the blessings of liberty for all Americans. We have a duty to stand up and stomp out tyranny whenever it dares try to creep out of the shadows of history. The importance of those words, the importance of the duty is why I take great disgust with the political charades played by President Barack Obama. A man who has always seemed so willing to cling onto the image of Lincoln. A man who insisted on being sworn in on the Lincoln Bible, seems only to revere the great President Lincoln when it is politically convenient, or he stands to profit from it.
President Obama has, for obvious reasons, been linked to President Lincoln. This connection is something that President Obama, the master campaigner, has not failed to utilize. He was sworn in using the Lincoln Bible, he took the Lincoln train ride, yet he did not show up for the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Instead the nation’s first President of African American decent was supposedly working on his joke of a health insurance reform. Does the administration really expect us to believe that? This from the President who has no idea of anything that happens to be going on in his administration. He had no clue about fast and furious, he had no clue about the IRS, he had no clue about the NSA scandal, he was blind sided by the millions of canceled policies, and he had no idea that the website was going tank, yet somehow he is so busy working to fix the problem he couldn’t attend a once in eternity event? An event that should be near sacred to this President for what it has allowed him to do with his life? More importantly President Obama has had over three years to get this Obamacare rollout right, does he really expect us to believe that an extra day is going to make a difference?
Worse yet in a video montage that includes clips of all five living Presidents reading the Gettysburg Address, President Obama was the only one who saw fit to edit history, to revise it to something more politically fitting to his agenda. When President Obama recited the speech he saw fit to edit the obliviously bigoted words of Abraham Lincoln. After all Lincoln was an uneducated dunce, one of those old white guys who sought only to hold everyone back. President Obama clearly is much smarter, and if he had been President his version of the speech would have been much better. You see President Obama, while reading the speech President Lincoln gave at the dedication of a cemetery took out the words “under God” as a way of once again trying to remove God from American history. Now before all you Obama Zealots start trying to tear me apart, blaming it on the prompter, or claiming he used a different speech, let me tell you I do not care. This is not the first time this man has tried to rewrite history to better fit his twisted political agenda. He tried to take God out of the Declaration of Independence for crying out loud. Every other person who read the Gettysburg Address for the video said “under God” President Obama is the only one who thought himself special enough to be exempt from it. The administrations excuse for this was that President Obama was reading a different version. Why on God’s green earth would President Obama be the only one asked to read a draft of the Gettysburg address, rather than the actual version used by Abraham Lincoln all those years ago.
The answer is quite simple really, President Obama was not asked to read an earlier draft of the address, he just simply decided that he would try and rewrite history, and act as though “under God” was never a part of the speech. He figured that we, the majority of the American People are completely oblivious to the world around us, as such we would never notice the change. While we are sitting in the corner with the nanny state wiping drool away from our chins, his radical progressive base would be singing his praises for casting out the archaic principle of God, and taking yet another step to writing him out of history.
You see progressives be them fascists or communists, have a major obstacle in the road towards world conquest. For progressive ideology to succeed individuality must be destroyed, the state has to be considered all powerful. This all powerful state restricts your life to protect the greater good from your ignorance. You have no rights, only privileges granted to you by a benevolent state. In our civilized republic we know that the State is not all powerful but rather it is subservient to the People who created it. We also know that all human beings are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. We know that we have rights granted to us by God, rights that man cannot take away. Sense God created us, and thus gave us our rights, that means that sense we created the government we gave it its privileges. This concept is a problem for progressives, if our rights come from God, that means they cannot strip us of our humanity and individuality. It becomes impossible to transform John Smith into 135723. It is because of the impassable barrier that God represents, progressives, President Obama included, have set out to remove God from our culture. Every chance they get they try to remove God from our daily lives, and worse yet from our history.
President Obama did not misspeak, he did not use a draft version of the Gettysburg address, he spat on the memory of Lincoln, and spat n the face of God. I am ashamed of this man’s actions.
