Revisionist History and ISIL

At work today I was listening to the radio and I heard several stories that just made my brain shift into overdrive. I started to make connections between stories that are seemingly overlooked by many of us. Either from a desire to push some political agenda, or a desire to live in ignorant bliss because the truth is too horrifying to accept.

I have continually heard news stories about ISIL, and how we have started bombing them. For those of you who live under a rock, ISIL is a terrorist organization set on reestablishing the Islamic caliphate that was lost with the destruction of the Ottoman Empire following World War I. They preach violence and hatred. They order people to convert or die. They behead foreign journalist. Worst of all they tell their men to go out and rape women for the next generation of the caliphate. Now every time I hear about the atrocities that ISIL has committed my mind starts racing. Why are the progressives not standing on the street corner demanding that we act? Why are they not demanding the full fury of the United States be brought to bear against these radical religious extremists who are waging a war on women? The answer to that we already know is that they are not running a political campaign against ISIL. The bigger question I find myself asking is why have hundreds of American men and women gone off to fight for ISIL? Why have they forsaken the liberty and opportunities promised by God and persevered by the Constitution of the United States, for the backwards barbarism of ISIL?

That is a hard question to answer, not because the answer is elusive, but because the answer is a bitter pill to swallow. Some say that people are leaving the United States to stand with ISIL because they stand for something, even though it is terrifying, their firm belief inspires the lost masses. I do not think that is right. I honestly believe that the blame for Americans choosing to stand with ISIL lies in the revisionist history that the ignorant radical progressives have forced upon the young people in this country.

At the heart of the progressive movement lies the belief that the United States is not a shining city upon the hill, but rather the monster under the bed. Progressives believe that the United States is illegitimate, it was founded immorally, and thus any of its success is due to the pain and suffering of others. Progressives believe that the United States only has what it does because it stole from every other nation in the world. The wealth of this country was not created by the free market, but rather stolen by evil mustachioed villains in suits and top hats. Because they believe that the United States was immoral in its founding, that means every success the nation has enjoyed is illegitimate.

It is no secret that radical progressives have been shaping the curriculum of our nation’s schools for decades. This control allows progressives the ability to shape the beliefs and viewpoints of the next generation. So how would a student brought up in a school system that demonizes the American Way, possibly feel loyal to the United States? If all you had heard about this country is how evil it is, how wrong it always is, how could you feel compelled to stand up to defend it? It is easy to see how someone who could feel sympathetic to a force that is demonizing the US and vowing to destroy it.

Now I understand that to some this may seem a stretch. Come on man, you don’t expect us to believe that just because progressives control the schools, they are driving kids to become radical extremists. Of course I don’t, but I want you to think long and hard about this (I apologize to progressive zealots, I know that independent thought is complicated for those incorporated into the hive mind). By allowing progressives to defame the entirety of US history, what reason does a child have to believe in the promise of the United States? Their lies have polluted the minds of seemingly an entire generation. I concede that this is a hard point to swallow that is why I have not talked about this theory. I had to have something to make this concept real. I had to have some facts behind it, I had to have an example to support my theory.

In Denver Colorado students stormed out of class to protest the audacious plan proposed by the school board. The villainous demons on the school board had the bold face audacity to propose a change in the school’s curriculum. These heartless thugs dared to propose changing the school’s history curriculum to focus on promoting citizenship, patriotism, and respect for authority. Starting with advanced placement history a committee would review course materials and text books to make sure that they “promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free-market system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights” and to ensure that they do not “encourage or condone civil disorder, social strike or disregard of the law”.

Well this proposal has just outraged the students and apparently the teachers in this district. The students walk out Tuesday September 24, followed a “sick out” from teachers that shut down two high schools in the area. The students had several things to say about this proposal, the one that stuck out the most in my mind was from a 17 year old student. This student said, “I don’t think my education should be censored. We should be able to know what happened in our past”. How twisted must someone’s view of their own country be, that they assume that promoting patriotism and citizenship somehow means that they are being subjected to massive censorship? This is an individual whose mind has already been poisoned against his homeland. This statement makes the assumption that there is more bad than good in the history of this country. To assume that trying to teach a positive message of the United States means nothing but censorship, means that one believes that there are no redeeming qualities to their country.

Here we have a case of hundreds of students walking out of their class rooms because they believe that a positive message about the United States is clearly full of lies. These are high school students from Denver Colorado. Presumably most of them have grown up in the United States, and have enjoyed the fruits bestowed upon them by the blessings of liberty, and they have been poisoned into believing there is no redemption in the United States. Imagine now how easily tainted the mind of an immigrant would be? Someone whose family is just starting out on the trail towards the American Dream, how easy it would be for them to be convinced of the evil vial despotism that resides in the heart of this nation? Is it really hard then to assume that the progressive’s perpetual defamation of this great nation, could poison the minds of its people and drive them towards ISIL? If the United States is evil, then one can assume that someone fighting against it, is not.

Progressive hatred and bigotry has had many unintended consequences over the years, I am truly starting to believe that acting as a recruiting agent for ISIL might be one of them. There are things in this nation’s past that are shameful, but the greatness of this nation is defined by how we moved forward and learned from those actions. We are a nation ever growing, learning, and striving for equality. We are a nation of kings, with every man’s home being his castle. The countless spires reaching for the sky, form the great skyline of our shining city upon a hill. A beacon of hope for all the peoples of the world. It is a shame that the progressives cannot see that.
